JAKIM Halal Certification Could be Checked Via SMS DAPAT
DAPAT has once again been entrusted by Jakim (Jabatan Agama Islam Malaysia) to be the official SMS channel for the public to check on the validity of Halal certification during its E-Halal launch held at PWTC on 8th February 2006.
The E-Halal was launched by Dr. Abdullah Md. Zain, Minister from the Prime Minister Department, who had a very positive outlook on having such useful information literally at the public’s fingertips via short messaging service – the fastest medium of interactivity.
The Halal mark certified to a product has a GSI bar code number. These GSI numbers are given out by FMM. All that you need to do when you wish to find out the halal status of a product is send an SMS message.
The instructions are easy. Just type:
HALAL [product bar code] and send to DAPAT | 32728
