Traveling can offer you many opportunities to share your experience with others. As you are no doubt aware from what was has been shown in the media, a powerful earthquake flattened buildings in Jogyakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday 27 May 2006 in the early morning. What if you were there then, would you try to capture things on your mobile?
The province of Jogyakarta bore the brunt of a 6.3-magnitude earthquake on that day. It eventually claimed the lives of 5,782 people and left some 36,299 persons injured. More than 135,000 houses are damaged, and 600,000 people are homeless. The earthquake extensively damaged the local region of Bantul, and its surrounding hinterland.
One of DAPAT’s best, Vice President Azli Paat went there for two days to offer his expertise and assistance. His trip although not so much for business Mr. Azli made the time to be a RakanBH reporter. He was able to send several MMS reports to Berita Harian while there. SMS and MMS communication services are invaluable tools today for travelers. For the sake of brevity a few examples are displayed here.
Imagine, if you will, that you were overseas and you wanted to share with others of your experience. What better way than through an MMS that could then be sent to a news media. For Malaysians you could choose to send to three papers; New Strait Times, Berita Harian and Harian Metro.
What you could send does not have to be of world news stature. Perhaps just a picture and description of how you notice the neat and tidy way they park motorbikes. It could be humorous or tragic. Or make it thought provoking, it is in your hands to express. The tools and media venues are ready for you to use. See our Real Useful Stuff section for easy examples.
